United Solar to Exhibit at Solar Power International 2011

Company to officially kick-off the Open Solar initiative

United Solar, a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD) and a leading global manufacturer of lightweight, flexible thin-film solar modules, announced today it will be attending and exhibiting at the Solar Power International tradeshow in Dallas, TX from Oct. 18-20, 2011.

United Solar will be located at booth number 2135 in the “PV Cells and Modules” zone of the Dallas Convention Center. Company sales and technical representatives will be on-hand to engage show participants on the unique attributes and real-world performance of UNI-SOLAR products.

United Solar will introduce its new initiative, Open Solar, which focuses on the development and commercialization of its unique lightweight, flexible thin film solar cells through collaborative innovation with third-parties. Through this collaborative approach with its customers, products already launched in the market include factory integrated solar roofing products, solar-powered military shelters, and solar-powered consumer bags and chargers.

In addition, Peggy Hock, sales director, will be presenting at the conference at the concurrent session “Recapturing Value from Brownfields with Solar: Insights into Assessment, Design and Installation” on Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m. on Level 1 (ground level) in room C141. Her presentation will focus on crucial details to consider when siting PV on landfills and other waste containment sites. UNI-SOLAR flexible, lightweight products are ideally suited for landfills, brownfields and similar redevelopment installations.

“United Solar is proud to be exhibiting at Solar Power International,” said Jay Knoll, interim president of ECD, United Solar’s parent company. “We will once again be showcasing our unique, differentiated solar products among an array of commodity goods. Also, this conference provides us the opportunity to demonstrate our long-standing commitment to innovation through our latest initiative, Open Solar.”
